Forty days after a child is conceived, the Talmud tells us, the soul enters the body. Forty, therefore, is a symbol of birth, rebirth and change. (From Source).

Dear Elspeth,
You've only just begun to live. I wish for you today a wonderful day of celebration. As always, blessings on this life in which I am fortunate to meet you and blessings as you go on to experience with love and forbearance, the many adventures that lie ahead.
I hope that the beautiful photo above is a tamarind seedling because it will go well with the story which I am sending to you:
The Tamarind Tree
Happy Birthday!!

Thank you, Guanaguanare. So far 40 is great! I'll go into more detail at some other point and a few photos, etc. The seedling I think is that of a flamboyant tree, but the tamarind story is very relevant, partly because a friend introduced me to a fruit today which is in a pod like tamarind (which I thought it was) - but it's something called padu (spelling?). Delicious. And the part with the Buddha walking through the forest ... it's exactly what I did very early this morning as the first part of my birthday celebration!

Well done!! An excellent way to begin a birthday. Yes, I know the fruit. That name is derived from the original French common name "Pois Doux". The botanical name is Inga laurina. Great fruit. Not very common in built up areas and always a very pleasant surprise, usually in country areas, to come across a tree laden with the pods.
