J'apprend.

Wow-ee! This is fun, Elspeth! I took French in 7th grade (20+years ago) and have hardly spoken it since then nor have I written it. I think I have the gist of what you wrote. Without getting out my French-English dictionary, here's what my monolingual brain thinks it read:

You're taking French classes and your going to practice what you're learning by writing your blog in French. The blog doesn't allow you to type accents.

Your friend, Kelly, speaks French and so you'll practice speaking with her. You don't know any other bloggers who speak French.

You like the class so far. There are 18(?) women in the class and one man, named Rian. Your professor is female and she lectures in French. You'll be taking the class for three semesters.

Your French vocabulary is excellent but you don't think very well in French and you haven't ? in three years. I don't know what the last sentence says at all except for something about a university.

How'd I do?

And congratulations on taking the class!

"s'exercer a..."

"To practice..."

...maybe, (since I don't do it); but I look forward to these posts so I can.

Kimberlie, you were partially right. There were about ten women in class (not 18) ... but I said 'about ten' wrong anyway. Also in the last paragraph I was saying that my French vocabulary is not excellent, but it's not too bad considering I haven't done it since I was 13 ... and I had friends at university who spoke French so I spoke with them.

Thanks dumondoj and Kelly for 'practise'. Maybe you are both right.
