Some of my photography will be featured in the upcoming exhibition The Caribbean in the Age of Modernity. Read about it here and scroll down to see some of the photographs. Names of photographers and titles of the pieces are below each image. We were asked to comment visually on the theme (Caribbean in modernity).
Here is a snippet of how I described my perspective for the catalogue:
My images show older ways of life, values and nature being swallowed into oblivion as the modern appetite for faster, bigger and “better” runs rampant through our society. When I drive around Trinidad these days, everywhere I look, I see a construction site with cranes. I therefore used the crane as a recurring symbol in each photo, emphasizing its prevalence and seeming importance ... (continued)
