Visiting planet Earth

I had my camera on me all night at the Dream House launch, but ended up only taking these few shots of the capoeira display by Instituto Palmeiras.I don't know what Glen was doing at this moment, but every time I look at this shot it makes me laugh. I showed it to my friend Nisha and she found it looks as though the Dream House (in the background) is a ship that just landed on earth, Chanzo and Maurice (the capoeiristas) are the aliens and Glen is protecting the earthlings from the invasion: "Step back! Don't come any closer! They may be dangerous!"

Risking his life, Glen rushes in to defend the earthlings from the space invaders.

Startled by the sudden movements of the earthling, the aliens spring into defense mode.

But ... wait ... where is Glen?

Have these intergalactic warriors absorbed him in their powerful energy field?

Have they used their cosmic powers to dematerialize him?

Have they assimilated him into their space vessel?
Their celebratory dance hints at some kind of victory.

Members of the public came off the streets and gathered in the square, co-operating to pour coconut oil into the hundreds of deyas, twist and place wicks in the deyas and light up. Indian music played softly in the background. Cotton candy, popcorn, snow cones, soft drinks and water were on sale from little vendor carts. It was wonderful seeing so many different people - young and old - helping each other and working in harmony to get all the deyas lit. The atmosphere was peaceful and the laughter of many small children filled the square.

With elections having been just a few days ago, of course the night couldn't pass without some election-type comment being made. Someone, struck by the peaceful, harmonious atmosphere, said: "This is a COP Divali."

Tickets for Greenlight Network's Environmental Concert 2007: LIVE THE PLEDGE have been printed and are now physically available! We will soon be placing tickets at select locations (to be announced) ... but for now, you can call 645-0157 and arrange to pick yours up from Greenlight's headquarters - 21 Lyndon Street, Curepe.

We strongly advise you to do this, since people have already been calling and booking blocks of tickets. You want to be sure that you and your friends get yours!
